We have a new performance opportunity! We’ve been invited to participate in the St. Louis Mardi Gras Parade on February 22, 2020. St. Louis hosts the second largest Mardi Gras celebration in the United States, and every year the festivities are capped off with the Bud Light Grand Parade, a 1.5-mile parade that runs right through the Soulard neighborhood and whose audience numbers around 250,000. In addition to the opportunity to perform for such a grand audience, the organizers of the parade have graciously offered to donate money towards our scholarship fund.
The board is working on making arrangements for a large trailer to pull the band. In the event that we can’t seat everyone on the trailer and you have mobility concerns, you may request to have a spot on the trailer reserved for you. The board will also be able to provide a limited number of large instruments for those who don’t own one. Large instruments and reserved spots on the trailer are both first-come, first-served. For those who do not own an instrument and cannot obtain one, we invite you to march along and give out candy and beads during the parade.
For those who are interested in participating, please sign up using this form. If you’d like to learn more about St. Louis Mardi Gras, visit their website. If you have additional questions, please reach out to the board at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact individual board members.
