Homecoming 2019 is the weekend of Oct. 11-12 as the Tigers take on Ole Miss. Please join us to participate in the pre-game performance and cheer on the Tigers. Or, if you cannot come or are unable to march, please register as either a Virtual Marcher or a Distinguished Marcher. Either way, the alumni band wants your support.

Tour the NEW School of Music Building
On Friday afternoon, the director of the School of Music, Dr. Julia Gaines, will lead a tour of the building still under construction which will become the new home for the School of Music. The tour will begin at 4:00pm at the corner of Hitt Street and University Avenue. Metered parking is available on the streets adjacent to the building. You can get a live view of the building while construction is ongoing by going to this site. In order to know an approximate number of participants, you will be asked during registration to indicate your interest in going on this tour. The building is scheduled to open by the beginning of the winter semester in January, so this tour will be an official preview. Thank you, Dr. Gaines.
FRIDAY NIGHT SCHEDULE
We gather at Shakespeare’s Pizza—South at 6 pm for an informal family gathering. You may purchase your own pizza and beverages, if you wish, and you’ll be able to pick up your name tag and shirt, if you pre-ordered one. Hang around for as long as you want before you head to campus for house decs and other activities on your own.
GAME DAY SCHEDULE
With a 6:00pm kickoff, you can still have the unusual opportunity to enjoy the Homecoming parade prior to any of the M2AB events of the day. The parade begins at 9:00am and you can view the parade route here.
Our afternoon follows the schedule below:
11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., Shuttle runs between Virginia Avenue garage and the practice field
12:30–1:00 p.m., Check-in at the Marching Mizzou practice field (snacks provided)
1:00–2:00 p.m., Alumni band rehearses alone
2:00–2:45 p.m., Rehearsal with Marching Mizzou
3:00–4:00 p.m., Box lunch and annual business meeting in the Hearnes Building
4:00–4:45 p.m., Free time (tai chi, nap, read a book, etc.)
4:45–5:00 p.m., Gather and line up in parade block on the east side of the Hearnes Building
5:00 p.m., Step off to proceed to the field

PLAY ALONG IN THE STANDS WITH MARCHING MIZZOU
We are excited to announce that we have been invited to join Marching Mizzou in the stands after pre-game to play along on the “old standards.” The director of Marching Mizzou, our own Mizzou alumna Dr. Amy Knopps, has agreed to let us sit with the band in your own respective instrument section to continue socializing with the students and exercising your chops. Her support for the alumni band is unequaled by any recent director!! Just so we can get an accurate count, there will be a question on the registration page asking if you might be interested in this gracious invitation. YOU MUST PURCHASE A GAME TICKET! Please, only those who are playing their instrument will be allowed to sit with Marching Mizzou. Other family members and friends who purchase a ticket in our block will be asked to sit in that section behind the band.
We will use the same process for purchasing game tickets as last year. THE ALUMNI BAND WILL NOT BE SELLING TICKETS FOR THE GAME, but we have arranged a special group rate for tickets in section 110 (formerly sections SS and TT) just behind Marching Mizzou. Tickets are $40 each and MUST BE PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM THE MIZZOU TICKET OFFICE. You can purchase as many tickets at this special rate as you would like. Deadline for ticket purchase is Wednesday, October 9, at 11:59pm.
We will have assigned seats for the game this year, so if you want to sit next to anyone in particular, first purchase your own tickets. Then, on the ticket order site, click on Invite friends and in the window that opens, click on Copy. Prepare an email to everyone you’d like to sit next to or near you and paste into the email that link you just copied. In the message, tell your friends to click on the link that you’ve sent them. The link will take them directly to the M2AB group ticket purchase site. When they make their ticket purchase, their ticket location will be linked to your ticket location. Your friends can also choose other friends to sit by them by clicking on Invite friends and following this same process!

YOU DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE A GAME TICKET IF ALL YOU WANT TO DO IS MARCH PREGAME. IF YOU ARE NOT STAYING FOR THE GAME, YOU WILL EXIT THE STADIUM AFTER OUR PERFORMANCE. If you are staying and playing along in the stands, you may go directly to your section in Marching Mizzou after pregame. If you’re not playing along, you may drop off your instrument at the truck, then re-enter with your game ticket and go to your assigned seat.

For those who have registered, simply pick up your name tag and Alumni Band polo shirt, if you ordered one. We’ll also provide fruit, water, drinks, and snacks at check-in. Limited numbers of large instruments (ONLY sousaphones, baritones, mellophones, drums) and flags will be available to borrow that day only if you request one during registration. You will need to bring your own mouthpiece or drumsticks if using a University instrument.
PARKING and SHUTTLE
Parking near the stadium, Hearnes Center and the practice field (southeast of Hearnes on the road to the university president’s house) is nearly impossible to do unless you’re a season ticket holder and a donor to the Tiger Scholarship Fund. The closest parking garage is Parking Structure #7 on Hospital Drive across the street from University Hospital and the parking fee there is $30.
Due to the lack of affordable parking near the stadium, M2AB will offer a FREE shuttle for marchers and their families from the west side of the Virginia Avenue Garagedirectly to the practice field. There is FREE parking in that garage.Do not park on the street in a metered spot as meters are enforced all day on Saturday. Any questions, contact Bill Moyes (573) 268-1086. The shuttle will run a continuous loop beginning an hour before the start time of the rehearsal and continuing until the start of rehearsal. THERE IS NO RETURN SHUTTLE AFTER THE GAME!!
Rehearsal will be at the M2 practice field southeast of the Hearnes Center. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted during rehearsal and children are not allowed on the field during our performance at the stadium.
LUNCH and BUSINESS MEETING
The business meeting will be held at the Hearnes Center following lunch. After everyone has food, we will meet to review the weekend, discuss plans, and introduce the new board members for 2019-20.
THE EQUIPMENT TRUCK
One of our greatest additions to the Homecoming experience is our equipment truck. The truck will be available as a place you can store your instrument cases and small personal items at the start of rehearsal so that they will be available near the stadium after our pregame performance. The truck will be secured throughout the game as well, giving your instrument a safe home until the end of the game. University-owned instruments will also be returned here after pregame.
Everyone who registers will receive their music by email directly from Hadley. If you don’t receive it soon, contact Hadley Haux by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at (314) 521-8593. Hadley brings few, if any, additional copies of the music to the practice field.
There will be a special limited edition t-shirt, designed by Mary Haux, available for everyone who completes their Homecoming registration. Anyone who registers to participate for their FIRST TIME EVER will receive a free t-shirt. Dues-paying members of the Mizzou Alumni Association may purchase a shirt at the reduced price of $5.00. For everyone else, the shirt is available for just $10.00. You may purchase a t-shirt during the registration process, or if all you want to do now is purchase a t-shirt, click here. Our order deadline was October 1, so if you are registering after Oct. 1 and ordering a t-shirt, it might not be available to pick up at Homecoming. In that case, it will be mailed to you after Homecoming.
