Homecoming 2018 Info

Marching Mizzou Alumni Band

Homecoming 2018 is the weekend of Oct. 19-20 as THE Tigers take on some other Tigers—it’s Mizzou versus Memphis. Please join us to participate in the pre-game performance and cheer on OUR Tigers. Or, if you cannot attend or are unable to march, please register as either a Virtual Marcher or a Distinguished Marcher. Either way, we want your support.

Registration is NOW OPEN.

FRIDAY NIGHT SCHEDULE

We gather at Shakespeare’s Pizza—South at 6 pm for an informal family gathering. You may purchase your own pizza and beverages, if you wish, and you’ll be able to pick up your name tag and shirt, if you pre-ordered one. Hang around for as long as you want before you head to campus for house decs and other activities on your own.

GAME DAY SCHEDULE

Game time could be announced as late as 7 days prior to kickoff, subject to the granting of television broadcast rights. The table below shows the most common times for the schedule of events (this is subject to change, depending on Marching Mizzou’s parade and practice schedule). Television coverage will determine game time and will likely be announced 7-13 days before Homecoming.

GAME TICKETS

There is a HUGE change in the process for purchasing game tickets. THE ALUMNI BAND WILL NOT BE SELLING TICKETS FOR THE GAME, but we have arranged a special group rate for tickets in the lower bowl just to the left of Marching Mizzou in section AA. Tickets are $55 each and MUST BE PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM THE MIZZOU TICKET OFFICE. We will have a link on our registration site to purchase tickets. You can purchase as many tickets at this special rate as you would like.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE A GAME TICKET TO MARCH AT PREGAME. WE WILL EXIT THE STADIUM AFTER OUR PERFORMANCE AND YOU MAY THEN RE-ENTER WITH A GAME TICKET OR ENJOY THE REST OF THE DAY AT YOUR LEISURE.

CHECK-IN

Check-in will be at the practice field at a time TBA.  For those who have registered, simply pick up your name tag and Alumni Band polo shirt, if you don’t have one from previous years.  We’ll also provide fruit, water, drinks, and snacks at check-in. If you do not pre-register, you will need to sign up and pay the appropriate late registration fee that day. A walk up registration fee of $5 is assessed to each member who registers after online registration closes. Limited numbers of large instruments (ONLY sousaphones, baritones, mellophones, drums) and flags will be available to borrow that day. You will need to bring your own mouthpiece or drumsticks if using a University instrument.

You should register as a Virtual Marcher if you are unable to attend Homecoming. You should register as a Distinguished Marcher if you plan on attending any of the Homecoming activities, but are unable to march in the pre-game show and you still want to join us down on the field. In either case, you will be supporting the ongoing activities of the M2AB.

PARKING and SHUTTLE

Parking near the stadium, Hearnes Center and the practice field (southeast of Hearnes on the road to the university president’s house) is nearly impossible to do unless you’re a season ticket holder and a donor to the Tiger Scholarship Fund. The closest parking garage is Parking Structure #7 on Hospital Drive across the street from University Hospital.  Parking fee there is $30.

Due to the lack of affordable parking near the stadium, M2AB will offer a FREE shuttle for marchers and their families from the west side of the Virginia Avenue Garage directly to the practice field. The shuttle will run on a continuous loop beginning about an hour before practice. There is FREE parking in that garage. Do not park on the street in a metered spot as meters are enforced all day on Saturday. Any questions, contact Bill Moyes (573) 268-1086. THERE IS NO RETURN SHUTTLE AFTER THE GAME!!

REHEARSAL

Rehearsal will be at the M2 practice field southeast of the Hearnes Center.  Alcoholic beverages are not permitted during rehearsal and children are not allowed on the field during our performance at the stadium.

LUNCH and BUSINESS MEETING

The business meeting will be held either at the Hearnes Center or at the practice field before the game (weather permitting). After everyone has food, we meet to review the weekend, discuss plans, and elect board members for 2018-19.

THE EQUIPMENT TRUCK

One of our greatest additions to the Homecoming experience is our equipment truck. The truck will be available as a place you can store your instrument cases and small personal items at the start of rehearsal so that they will be available near the stadium after our pregame performance. The truck will be secured throughout the game as well, giving your instrument a safe home until the end of the game. University-owned instruments will also be returned here after pregame.

MUSIC

Everyone who registers will receive their music by email directly from Hadley.  If you don’t receive it soon, contact Hadley Haux by e-mail at hhaux@sbcglobal.net or by phone at (314) 521-8593.  Hadley brings few, if any, additional copies of the music to the practice field.
